We have a sidewalk that transitions to a small stoop that leads to my front door. I call it a "stoop" because I don't know what else to call it. I wish I could say it was a front porch, but maybe in the next move :). It is a flat, covered space that I have neglected and I decided it needed a little something. Cue my moment of "what do I already have at my house that I can reuse????"...
I had always thought about adding a large, colored pot with flowers, or a cute bench, neither of which I already had. I decided to think outside the box, so a random distressed chair (which i took from Kate's room) with some terra cotta pots surrounding it was my answer.
I had previously painted and distressed this chair and I like the pop of white from the street. I was going to paint out the terra cotta pots, but I actually decided I like the natural look with some colorful flowers.
The chair was a thrift find for $4 and the pots and flowers were purchased at Walmart for less than $10! I still need to get some sort of a sealer for the chair since it will be exposed to the elements. The more weathered and distressed the better for me, but I don't want it to get ruined!
I decided to go with a geraniums, Texas bluebonnets (of course!), and petunias.
Never fear, I already have a new (old) chair that I am currently making over to fill the space in Kate's room (since I snatched this one from her room). More to come on that in a upcoming post! I love reusing what I already have to fill up a space and make it look fresh.
Saving money and being "green"-literally! Love it!
